As Western Power’s Distribution Grid Strategy & Planning Manager, Janica Lukas is charged with planning for the rapidly changing future of the distribution network of Western Australia’s South West Interconnected System. Janica is responsible for distribution network strategies and the scoping of investment proposals with a project pipeline of $40M-$50M per year. Her teams actively enable the DER revolution and innovative pilots across the network including stand-alone power systems, microgrids and utility scale battery energy storage solutions. Janica holds an Engineering degree in Power and Control Systems and a Commerce degree from the University of Western Australia, and is a Fellow of Engineers Australia. With more than 18 years’ engineering experience at Western Power, Janica and her teams are using their expertise to drive an innovative and optimised evolution of the network to support customer energy choices.
