With more than 20 years’ experience across various industries, most recently in the energy sector, Matt is Executive Manager of Western Power's Energy Transition & Sustainability business. His team is responsible for spearheading sustainability and enabling community and customer decarbonisation through network transmission enhancement and the integration of distributed energy resources (DER) within the South West Interconnected System.

Since joining Western Power in 2009, Matt has initiated and led Western Power’s delivery of industry-changing projects that have shaped the way Western Power operates and manages Western Australia’s main electricity network. These include the innovative Grid Transformation Engine; the roll-out of stand-alone power systems and key DER integration initiatives like Project Jupiter, which will enable customer-owned energy resources like solar, batteries and smart appliances to be coordinated as a virtual power plant. Matt is also leading the establishment and development of the Clean Energy Link program, the foundation for increased renewable energy capacity. The first project being delivered is Clean Energy Link - North which is set to unlock northern network transmission capacity and renewable energy generation opportunities needed to support enable this extraordinary transition.

Matt holds a BEng (Aerospace Avionics) from the Queensland University of Technology and is Chair of the Industry Advisory Board for the country’s first Clean Energy Skills National Centre of Excellence.”
